Transaction: An Example of Drive

While in the 35mm final project class of my film program, a friend of mine pitched a short film about a bank robbery gone awry. It rang true to films like Point Break and Inside Man but it had enough differences to separate it from the cliche of it's genre. I was asked to act in the film as one of the characters, or do the art direction if I wasn't fit for the role after auditions.

His pitch wasn't chosen, but he kept on fighting and fighting to get his film made. He organized a team, including myself, and with all of us together we created a promo for the film, which can be seen on the film's site www.transactionfilm.com.

After the promo, we decided to use Transaction as our pitch for a pitching exercise in our producing class. It was chewed up, torn apart, and spit back out specifically by one of the members of the faculty. We used this as part of our drive and continued to pursue the film. We built a set inside a garage, secured an abandoned bank, and shot on school property.

What I'm trying to get to here is that no matter what anyone says to you about your film, make it anyways. Their opinions only mean as much as you want them to mean.
