After searching the lowest corners of horror filmmaking and studying the ins and outs of what truly disturbs people, I found someone who is perhaps the most controversial filmmaker of all time.
His name is Lucifer Valentine 666…yes you read that correctly. He is a born and raised Satanist, and right now, he is taking the underground horror society by storm. His dark, hellish visions do not appeal to many, but for those who understand his artistic view of cinema, he is a genius. He has created a sub-genre of horror, Vomit Gore, which contains actual footage of actors and actresses vomiting. Already, many of you are cringing and squirming in your seats, which is exactly what Mr.666 wants.
I was fortunate enough to get into contact with Lucifer Valentine 666 today via the internet and ask him a few questions:
As a student filmmaker, what advice about the film industry do you have for me or any of my peers?
Well I just do my own thing and am totally self-contained, so the film industry doesn't really make any difference to my work, if a filmmaker wants to be a part of the larger film industry scene they will need to be ok with making lots of compromises and being inundated with conventional thinking and rules which I choose to have nothing to do with.
How hard was it for you to find your films distribution, and how did you go about doing so?
Not hard at all, Stephen Biro from Unearthed Films just emailed me one day saying he'd like to release and distribute my movies so I said sure.
Would you read a script if I sent it to you, and if you would would you give me any advice?
Ha ha well I don't read scripts unless it's a very close friend and I don't want to offend them or as a favor but really scripts don't interest me at all I find them very boring and that's simply due to my style of filmmaking; I make drawings and definitely write notes and make a list of a few scenes I want to shoot on a particular shoot so I don't forget to shoot something important, and sometimes I will write out a few passages of dialogue that I'd like someone to say on camera, but I've never written a script and so I think that's why I don't read them. For me, filmmaking involves creating a certain kind of atmosphere in which to shoot, and setting up certain circumstances that go along with overarching themes and ideas I've discussed with the performers, then I capture on camera the unexpected ways in which all these energies and circumstances overlap and come crashing into each other and play out to make the scenes.
Why is it so hard to find images of you?
Because I am legally forbidden by my lawyer to publicize images of myself as I have had death threats and two serious stalkers.
Have you ever thought about going outside the horror genre and doing a mainstream film?
Well my next movie is a documentary called BLACK METAL VEINS and it's about a group of friends that are obsessed with Norwegian Black Metal and are extreme heroin junkies; it's not a horror/gore movie, but I wouldn't say it's mainstream by a long shot, but I keep an open mind and I'll do whatever kinds of projects interest me regardless of category.
What are your favorite types of music?
I like really heavy ambient drone.
What are your top 3 films of all time?
I don't have any top films, I like real pieces of footage that are usually not mannered or constructed to be a movie in any way and I mostly gravitate towards home movie kinds of things.
What are your thoughts on film school?
Well I never went to a film school so I can't say for sure, except that theorizing about film and movies is intellectually fulfilling for some people and it also seems that learning the conventional and practical things about filmmaking may be necessary for some people and it's really a philosophical thing, for me, all one has to do is take a camera and start recording a subject of some kind (it helps if its a compelling subject) and you will likely naturally start to direct the subject as you film it and that's how I ended up making movies.
What is your advice for anyone trying to make it in the film industry?
I really don't know that's something I'm not part of.
How do you feel about anyone under the age of 18 seeing your film?
Well my films are definitely intended for adults, I mean, the brutality and dark themes explored in my films simply cannot be endorsed to anyone under 18.
Explain your religious beliefs.
My parents are Satanists and that's how I was raised; now that I'm an adult I don't really see any need to have so-called religious beliefs, but if asked Satanism is very deeply instilled in me and is reflected in my spirituality.
What can we expect from you in the future?
Well I plan to make movies for the rest of my life so you can expect a lot of artwork that will be quite challenging for a lot of people and will likely outrage many.
Would you be interested in being the subject of a documentary? I think we could really do a lot of good with your story.
Well that documentary wouldn't be allowed to show me on camera so I'm not sure if anyone would want to do that, but sure I'd consider it.
Thank you again for taking the time to do this, and I am excited to see what you do in the future!
No problem ! My pleasure !
